Profile

Gareth Price is a Senior Research Fellow at The Azure Forum for Contemporary Security Strategy as well as working for the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Buckingham. He was previously a Senior Research Fellow at Chatham House leading research on South Asia, a consultant at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, a South Asia analyst/economist at the Economist Intelligence Unit and the South Asia analyst at a political risk consultancy, Control Risks Group.

His current research interests include the Indo-Pacific, climate change and security, as well as the Asian response to China’s rise and transnational crime. In recent years, his research has explored how Afghanistan could play a positive regional role, the role of multilateral inter-governmental groupings in Asia and the role of water as both an opportunity and threat across South Asia.

He has provided analysis and advice for a number of governments and companies around the world, as well as being a frequent media commentator. He was a member of the UK government’s Asia Task Force, established by the Department of Trade and Investment, and the South Asia advisory group of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, as well as being a Senior Expert for the EU’s Asia-Pacific Research and Advice Network, which provided research and analysis for the European External Action Service. Gareth has a PhD from the University of Bristol.
