Brian spent 16 years in the Irish Defence Forces during which time he served at home in a variety of logistics, security and intelligence appointments, served overseas on four occasions in Chad, Lebanon (twice) and Syria as well as being selected for two short secondments abroad to the United Kingdom and United States. Brian retired from the Defence Forces in 2017 with the rank of Commandant to take up a role with Elavon Financial Services (a U.S. Bancorp company) where he serves as the Director of International Security. He is also the current Co-Chair of the Irish OSAC Steering Committee. Brian was accepted as a Member of the Security Institute (UK) in 2017 and is board certified by the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) having passed the Certified Protection Professional (CPP) certification in the same year.
Brian is a graduate of the University of Leicester with a MSc in Security and Risk Management where he wrote his dissertation “Cyber Security: The Current ‘State’ of Play in Ireland”, examining the role of the Irish state in cybersecurity in Ireland. He is currently studying for a MSc in Business (Leadership and Management practice) in the UCD Smurfit Business School, Ireland.
